Below is a note, Ryno Kid Care sent to PRCW coordinator, Lauren Maloney. This organization does such important things for families of sick children. Can you help by making a meal for a family or donating bake sale items? Please contact Lauren Maloney today.
Their entire mission can be found at www.rynokidcare.org
Dear Lauren,
A few things, we were hoping to tap into the knowledge of PRCW.
1) The last groups of meals were delivered to several different hospitals. A few of the meals were given to a girl at LGCH whose health has been declining due to cystic fibrosis. She is currently seeking evaluation for a double lung transplant from different centers around the country. She has been inpatient since before Christmas with just a few breaks to go home. Mom has two other children at home, and it has been hard for her to be both places, and provide cooked food for her families at each place. Please know the meals were very much appreciated by a family who just needed that extra attention.
2) We currently have a mom who is inpatient with her baby girl. Her daughter has heart problems and has been in the PICU for almost 3 months. We are hoping to give her an hour or two of respite and would like to provide her with a gift certificate for a massage or manicure/pedicure combo. Unfortunately we don’t know of any great spas in the Park Ridge area and were hoping you, or other women in the group would know of one we could contact.
3) We have a different need for the month of April than normal. A family of ours is inpatient at UIC right now, a 15 year old who was recently re-diagnosed with Leukemia. The family is having a bake sale the first weekend of April near home (Steger, IL) and could use a little help with some home cooked goodies! All proceeds with go towards testing/finding to find a donor, and any medical bills that have been incurred. This is the child’s second diagnosis (different kind of cancer). Mom had quit her job to be at the hospital, and dad has taken a leave of absence. The family has been by his side(not leaving the hospital), and the situation has been very critical. This family has received several of your home cooked meals as well. They have not spent a night away from the hospital since his new diagnosis on March 1st.
