Children will create crafts with artist Vicky Bellisario from, “If An Elephant Can Paint,” a paint-your-own pottery studio located in downtown Edison Park.

Park Ridge Historical Museum will also be open for tours. Be sure to take a little extra time to explore the museum and discover treasures from yesteryear.

These puppets have been designed and stylized by the students based on traditional myths or fables and then used to produce student-written stories. Be sure to stop by Brickton to find out more about these fascinating puppets! All ages

2:00pm: Wayang Kulig Indonesian Shadow Puppet performance with Indonesian Performing Arts Chicago at the Park Ridge Library, 20 S. Prospect. One of the most outstanding and unique forms of art, Indonesian Shadow Puppetry has its roots in ancient Bali. Ages 8 and up.

The performance will be, “The Death of Subali,” with master puppeteer I Gusti Ngurah Kertayuda. The story follows two greedy twin brothers who fight constantly. A spell is cast and they are given monkey heads with human bodies. The great monkey general Hanoman must step in to decide who is right and who is wrong in this classic Ramayana epic.

After the puppet performance, Indonesian Performing Arts Chicago will also present traditional Indonesian Dance. You will be mesmerized by the intricate movement and colorful costumes of this ancient and spiritual art form.
